Over the years many parents have called to ask
about ballroom dance lessons for kids. Well here it is. A local opportunity for kids to
learn to dance taught by our very own Canadian Latin & Ten Dance champions. No longer
will parents have to go to Calgary, Vancouver or Toronto.

DoDel Kids
Club is a unique and outstanding amateur sport/dance program. In May 2006 Canadian Latin
and Ten Dance Champions, Dominic Lacroix and Delphine Romaire, began training Edmonton
children and youth to compete in DanceSport (competitive ballroom dance) competitions.
Today we have 50 children and youth between the ages of 9 and 19 enrolled in three
programs. We have two competitor groups and offer introductory programs in September and
January.
Although we are still a young club, our program has become recognized as offering some of
the best training available in Canada for aspiring competitive ballroom dancers. In 2008
DoDel Kids Club competitors participated in five competitions and won 218 medals — 97
gold, 71 silver and 50 bronze. Since the club’s first competition in October 2006,
our competitors have participated in 12 competitions in Alberta and British Columbia and
won 394 medals — 171 gold, 131 silver and 92 bronze — along with a number of
coveted trophies.
In addition to their regular classes with Dominic and Delphine, our “advanced”
competitors are privileged to receive guest instruction from internationally recognized
coaches and judges such as So You Think You Can Dance Canada’s Jean-Marc Généreux
(Montreal), Jane Edgett (Halifax), undefeated Canadian Professional Ten Dance Champion
Pierre Allaire (Montreal) and Benoit Drolet (London, England).
DoDel Kids Club has been featured on CTV News (November 2006 and March 2008), CBC Radio
(February 2007), the front page of the Edmonton Journal (April 2007), and CityTV’s BT
(May and October 2007 and October 2008). Young Fitness Amateur Sports News regularly
features our competitors’ accomplishments.
Our next introductory program begins January 26th. The commitment is 2 hours per week:
group syllabus instruction from 7-8 PM on Mondays and group practice from 7-8 PM on
Thursdays. Tuition is based on $25 per week. Email Joanne at dodelkidsclub@hotmail.com to

partner in their age category.
